A customer comes into a garage informing the mechanic that he thinks his motorcycle is consuming a large amount of fuel and would he be able to find the reason why. The mechanic checks for a leak, and then takes the motorcycle for a test run to measure how much it鈥檚 consumed in a small space of time. He does this by emptying the fuel tank, re-enters 2 litres of fuel and then takes the motorcycle for a 15-mile test run at a steady speed. He then calculates the miles per litre and then converts the miles per gallon to work out the consumption of the motorbike.
