BITESIZE MATHS BOLT 2.mov
A mechanic asks his young colleague to replace a bolt in a car that he is currently working on. First, he must measure the diameter of the bolt which is in millimetres to find the correct replacement size – he does this by using a Vernier Calliper. He then chooses a spanner to replace the bolt – but the spanners come in inches – so he must find out which sized spanner he needs. He converts the millimetres into inches using the Vernier Calliper and finds the right size spanner to fit the new bolt. His colleague then shows him the formula used to convert millimetres into inches.
