'If I wasn't blind I wouldn't have been educated'
The winners of this year's Right Livelihood Awards were announced in Sweden today. The awards are an alternative to the Nobel prize: They celebrate courageous people and organisations that have found practical solutions to the root causes of global problems.
One of the winners Yetnebersh Nigussie is an Ethiopian lawyer. She lost her sight at the age of 5 and became an advocate for disabled people in Ethiopia bringing education and healthcare to disabled Ethiopians.
