Post-16: maths - Subtraction - clip 02
Subtraction is taking one amount from another. It’s the difference between two numbers. You can work out the difference between two numbers by counting on from one to the other. If the numbers are large it helps to break the numbers down - so to subtract 29 from 40 - you can first take away the 20, and then deduct the 9 from the remaining 20 to leave you with 11. If the numbers are more complex - you can use the column method to subtract one number from the other.
