Post-16 maths: Multiplication - clip - 02
Multiplication is repeated addition. 5 x 5 is the same as 5+5+5+5+5. If one table decoration has five roses, and you’re making 10 – then you multiply 5 by 10 to work out how many roses you’ll need in total. If the numbers you’re multiplying are big, chunking them down in to parts and using the grid method is an easy way to do the sum.
