Post-16 maths: Place value - clip 03
Where a digit sits in a number tells you its value – it’s place value. Whether it’s in the hundreds, tens or units position changes the size and value of a number. In the number 235 – the 3 is in the tens position – meaning it’s worth three tens - or thirty. In the number 3000 – the number 3 is in the thousands position meaning it’s three thousand.
