Catalonia: Will it stop short of independence

Catalonia’s regional government may not declare independence from Spain, reports suggest

Reports from Catalonia suggest the regional government there may not declare independence from Spain this week. Catalan government sources have said there may be a symbolic recognition of the result of last weekend's referendum but - for now - no decision to break away.

People's Party MP, former Spanish security minister and a professor of constitutional law Francisco Martinez Vazquez said that nobody can speak on behalf on Catalonia - referring to the Spanish unity rally in Barcelona.
