Record number of children seeking suicide counselling
The number of young people reaching breaking point is at a record high, according to the charity Childline. The helpline carried out an average of 62 suicide counselling sessions a day in 2016 - a total of around 22,500, which is 15 percent more than the previous year. More than 2,000 contacts were with young people who had taken steps towards killing themselves, such as writing a note or planning their death. Emily Cherry from Childline told Dan Damon more about the findings.
