The incredible life of Tilehurst's Mrs Gash
The listeners get in touch with their memories of Mrs Gash, she set up her own animal sanctuary in a town house in Tilehurst, and helped re-home thousands of animals.
Eric from Tilehurst:
"Her name was Doris Gash, it was a semi-detached house in Norcott Hill, and I actually got my very first dog from her.
"I've had lots of dogs since then, at least twelve... they were all manageable."
Pam in Tilehurst:
"I had a puppy and a kitten from Mrs Gash. She had a fox, and she used to do talks and wanted to tell people they made good pets.
"When I got the kitten I had the fright of my life, I was choosing between these two kitten, I jumped out of my skin and it was the biggest Great Dane I ever saw!"
