In Los Angeles, California, the LAPD, one of the largest police forces in the United States, has just approved a one-year pilot programme to evaluate drones in law enforcement. But is the use of drones in policing a good thing, adding another tool to crime fighting, or is this just more surveillance? Journalist and radio presenter Cyrus Farivar from Ars Technica is sceptical.
