"I was in the toy department and there was one bear left on the shelf"
As a memorial service is held in his honour, we delve into our archives as Michael Bond tells ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Berkshire's Sarah Walker about the time he found the 'real' Paddington bear.
Michael Bond, Paddington Author:
"I was walking down Oxford Street on Christmas Eve and it started to snow, there was nobody around and I found myself in the town department.
"There was one bear left on the shelf, I walked away and I thought you can't stay here all by yourself.
"I've always wanted to use the name Paddington for a character...we'd find ourselves talking to him."
