Post-16 maths: Decimals clip 2
A decimal is a number between two whole numbers. So 1.4 is between 1 and 2 and numbers less than one come after the decimal point – such as 0.6. A number may have all the same digits – but the decimal point makes all the difference. So 18.5 and 1.85 and 0.185 all have different values.
