Regulatory alignment for NI only is 'inconceivable'
The Conservative MP Dominic Grieve has said it is "inconceivable" that regulatory alignment could apply to Northern Ireland, but not the rest of the UK.
Speaking to Radio 4's PM programme, Mr Grieve said he understood that such an arrangement would avoid the need for a hard border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
However, he said he would "never support" a move that would create internal tariff or customs borders within the UK.
