The Conservative MP and leave campaigner, Bernard Jenkin, has appealed for calm over the Brexit negotiations, saying there would not be a hard border unless Ireland or the European Union wanted one.

"I think there's a good prospect we're going to get a deal. If there is no deal it is because of the EU, not because of the British," he said.
