Behind the banter of African barber shops
The candid conversations Inua Ellams had in the male communities of barber shops ranged from the political to the personal. He talked Mandela, Mugabe and masculinity in the men’s hair salons of South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria and Ghana. Inua's play premiered in the UK at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds, followed by a run at the National Theatre in London.
