A Nazi in the family
January 27th marked Holocaust Memorial Day, the annual reminder of the extermination of six million Jews in the concentration camps of World War Two. It was the day the Russians arrived at Auschwitz in 1945.
Derek Niemann is a British author who discovered, to his profound shock, that his grandfather was a Nazi SS Officer in the concentration camps.
Radio 4's Andrew Bomford joined him as he spoke, for the first time ever, to a Jewish audience about the role his family played in the Nazi party during the Second World War.
