Gunn's florist quote - Retail - clip 2
In this clip, a florist receives a new batch of sunflowers to sell to their customers. These are still in their wholesale value and the florist needs to work out how much to sell them at retail value. A customer asks for a bunch of 12 sunflowers before working out the retail value, meaning that she now has to work out both the retail value per stem, and the price for a bunch of 12 with a 10% discount. She uses division to work out the price per stem of the trade price, and multiplication to work out the retail price in order for the store to make some profit. Once she has the retail price, she uses multiplication and addition to find out the cost of a bunch of 12, divides the full amount by 10 and subtracts this from the full amount to get the 10% discount.
