Elizabeth Alker previews the FutureEverything festival with founder Drew Hemment

This Wednesday (21 March 2018) the FutureEverything Festival starts again in Manchester. The festival is now in its 23rd year and having started as a digital art festival in 1995, it has since grown into an event which explores developments in and the future of technology with a line-up of leading thinkers, musicians and sound, digital and visual artists working in this area.

This year's commissioned art, ideas and invention cast an eye to the future, asking us to think about four key themes connected to the invisibility of the Internet of Things; visibility, transparency, responsibility and trust. Thinkers, creatives and artists on the line-up include; Usman Haque, Ling Tan, Ben Cervany, Mara Balestrini, Matthew Edgson, Lucas Gutierrez, Alexandra Deschamps Sonsino, Seth Scott and Guillaume Dujat, Kasia Molga, Joe Beedles, Tobias Revell just to name a few. The lawyer of infamous robot Sophia will also be in conversation at the festival.
