Labour's Diane Abbott says her party will press for an independent UN-led investigation in Syria to gather evidence on chemical weapons.

The shadow home secretary told Nick Robinson that the Labour Party believes there is no military solution to the situation in Syria.

She said what needs to happen is "a negotiated political settlement".
