Israel鈥檚 Knesset parliament has voted to pass the controversial so-called Jewish nation state bill 鈥� which defines the country as an exclusively Jewish state. It downgrades Arabic from official language status, and claims the 鈥渨hole and united鈥� city of Jerusalem as Israel鈥檚 capital.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the passage of the bill as a 鈥渄efining moment鈥�, but Arab members of the Knesset ripped up copies of it in protest after the vote 鈥� with one calling the legislation 鈥渁 law of Jewish supremacy鈥�.
