ѿý Minute: On Israel's Jewish nation state bill

Israel’s Knesset parliament has voted to pass the controversial so-called Jewish nation state bill – which defines the country as an exclusively Jewish state. It downgrades Arabic from official language status, and claims the “whole and united” city of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the passage of the bill as a “defining moment”, but Arab members of the Knesset ripped up copies of it in protest after the vote – with one calling the legislation “a law of Jewish supremacy”.
