Sone Aluko wants to be fighting at the top of the table next season, rather than the bottom.

After fighting relegation with the Royals last season, Aluko wants to be pushing for the Premier League this term.

鈥淭op six has to be the aim,鈥� Aluko told 蜜芽传媒 Radio Berkshire鈥檚 Tim Dellor. 鈥淎t the end of the season we want to either be promoted or playing past the season, past everybody else.

鈥淲e鈥檙e confident we can compete with anyone in the league if we get it right.鈥�

And Aluko wants to hit the ground running against Derby in his side鈥檚 opening game.

鈥淚t鈥檚 beneficial if you start well, then you don鈥檛 have such a mountain to climb.

鈥淚t鈥檚 not the be all, and end all, but obviously we want to get out there and be a team to chase, rather than be chasing somebody down.鈥�
