Reading FC: Aluko says ‘top six has to be the aim’
Sone Aluko wants to be fighting at the top of the table next season, rather than the bottom.
After fighting relegation with the Royals last season, Aluko wants to be pushing for the Premier League this term.
“Top six has to be the aim,” Aluko told ѿý Radio Berkshire’s Tim Dellor. “At the end of the season we want to either be promoted or playing past the season, past everybody else.
“We’re confident we can compete with anyone in the league if we get it right.”
And Aluko wants to hit the ground running against Derby in his side’s opening game.
“It’s beneficial if you start well, then you don’t have such a mountain to climb.
“It’s not the be all, and end all, but obviously we want to get out there and be a team to chase, rather than be chasing somebody down.”
