Why this Victorian pastime is the new way to get your kicks
The penny farthing bicycle was the way Victorian daredevils got their adrenaline rush by risking life and limb. With wheels more than five feet wide and no helmet, it wasn’t a ride for the faint-hearted. It’s making a comeback with some of today’s thrill seekers. Elizabeth Hotson reports from a World Record penny farthing attempt.
