Asthma awareness: 'My son was gone just like that'
The family of a 20-year-old who died from an asthma attack have told 5 Live they want to make sure "no other family" goes through what they have.
5 Live Breakfast followed Tiernan's mum, Donna Green, as she spoke to pupils at Tiernan's old school in Northern Ireland about the importance of taking prescribed asthma medication. She says Tiernan didn’t always use the steroid inhaler meant to prevent him having an asthma attack.
In an emotional speech, Donna says: "To have to try and keep your son alive is something no mother of father should have to do... my big, handsome son was gone just like that."
