British Identity at the V&A: Calypso Stage Set

The V&A's director looks at what a stage set design tells us about multicultural Britain

The Victoria and Albert Museum's director, Tristram Hunt, looks at what a stage set design tells us about multiculturalism in Britain. The image depicts a Caribbean island scene probably for a performance of Calypso, the first musical based on a West Indian subject with a predominantly West Indian cast. Each day, he will choose a piece from the V&A's collection which reveals something about British identity.

Series produced by Nicola Stanbridge.
