West Africa’s Fish Famine
West African waters are some of the richest fishing grounds in the world, feeding and providing jobs for millions of people across the region. But catches are collapsing as stocks are overfished, according to the United Nations. So what’s going on? Who’s to blame? The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½â€™s Alfonso Daniels travelled to Senegal and gained rare access to Mauritania, reporting on the expanding fishmeal industry that’s consuming the region’s fish.
