Nearly one million bank workers in India have gone on strike as a major bank merger could leave thousands jobless. Japan has announced that it is withdrawing from the International Whaling Commission, in order to resume commercial whale hunting. We assess why this is controversial, as a ban on commercial whaling was imposed in 1986.
