Busking

A busker, from Worcester, has landed herself a gig in New York after a video of her performing with Seal was spotted by Billy Joel's former bassist.

25-year-old Poppy WS secured the gig in Greenwich Village after Larry Russell came across her videos online.

In session

This week's live session comes from an artist who regularly performs around the West Midlands and South Wales.

Starting off life in a heavy rock band, Malvern's Lewis Boulton is now one of the bluesiest performers in our area.

When not out gigging, Lewis works in education and is an expert in Ancient Hebrew!

“Blues as it’s supposed to be delivered - with great musicianship, catchy songs and full of light!” - Andrew Marston.

ѿý Music Introducing in Hereford

This month's sessions come from Gordon Bennett's, in Hereford, which has been championing bands since being taken over by Robert Bennett in May 2016.

The venue has been hosting free music nights every Friday and Saturday, from 9pm, showcasing the best local talent.

Artist of the Week

This week's Artist of the Week is band with one of the quickest rises to fame in the business.

The Wandering Hearts formed just three years ago in Tim’s home.

During their second session together they uploaded a rough recording to SoundCloud and within 30 minutes they found a manager who landed them a record deal with Decca!

Tim, who's originally from Droitwich, has also starred in Once and Kinky Boots on London's West End.

Fundraising gig

The biggest Polish charity fundraiser came to Redditch last weekend, featuring three days of live music.

WOSP - the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity - raises millions, every year, for pediatric and geriatric hospital wards in Poland.

Charity fundraisingevents take place all over the world and, at the Mettis Sports Centre, a group of volunteers got togetherto put on a weekend full of music.

ѿý Music Introducing in Kidderminster

Our next recording session will take place on Sunday, 27 January at Kidderminster College.

The venue, which has made a name for itself as being the national HQ of the government-funded MAS Records scheme, is supported by Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin), Ricky Wilson (Kaiser Chiefs) and Karl Hyde (Underworld).

We'll be bringing along handpicked musicians from Herefordshire and Worcestershire to record their live sessions for broadcast.

They've all uploaded their tracks to theѿý Music Introducing Uploader- but didn't know they were being considered for this incredible opportunity!

This free event, which is open to everybody, kicks off at 1pm and you're more than welcome to turn up anytime until 5pm.
