Alfonso Cuaron was furious after Netflix put Spanish subtitles on his film Roma, instead of sticking to the original Mexican Spanish used in the film. Now Netflix has replaced the subtitles with straight transcriptions. Professor Jorge D铆az-Cintas is from the Centre for Translation Studies at University College London and tells Roger Hearing why the original decision to subtittle in this way was widely considered offensive.
