Lord Ahmed 'took advantage' of vulnerable women

A member of the House of Lords has been accused of exploiting his position to pursue sex with vulnerable women who came to him for help, Newsnight reveals.

The allegations emerged as part of a Newsnight investigation which also raises serious questions about the adequacy of the Code of Conduct in the House of Lords.

The peer in question – Lord Ahmed of Rotherham – denies the allegations against him. Another peer, Lord Carlile – who’s a barrister and former deputy high court judge – says if the allegations that have been made are true, and he had a sexual relationship with a vulnerable woman who came to him for help, it’s “disgraceful”. Richard Watson reports.
