Why is Britain's leading medical journal refusing to back down on misinformation it has printed about the treatment?

Our correspondent, Deb Cohen, previously reported on the case of Shauna Davison - a 15 year old girl with serious respiratory problems - who died shortly after receiving experimental stem cell surgery. The report raised important questions over whether the operation should have ever taken place.

Deb Cohen now reports on how flawed data have contributed to clinical decisions that may have resulted in other deaths. What's more, the scientific journal publishing the data knows it to be false.

Joining Emily Maitlis to dicsuss the matter further is Norman Lamb, former health minister and current chairman of the science and technology committee.

Newsnight asked the Lancet for comment, but they declined.
