Sexual harassment, a thorn in Sierra Leone’s flesh

Sexual harassment is a major issue that is affecting many women in Africa. Case in point is in Sierra Leone which is grappling with the menace of rape - especially paedophilia. To deal with the situation, the country’s President Julius Maada Bio has declared rape and other sexual offences a national emergency. He has announced a special police unit, imposed a life sentence for convicted paedophiles, and offered free treatment at all public hospitals. But the reality is that the structures are grossly inadequate to deal with the situation, as Umaru Fofana reports from Freetown.
