This week, we're championing the sound of a Worcester musician who, in a previous life, fronted a prog-rock band signed by the managers of Def Leppard that went on to support Foreigner, Jethro Tull, Ronnie Wood and T'Pau.

Famous fans include Mike Rutherford, of Mike & The Mechanics, who invited Paul Menel's band IQ to tour their classic album 'The Living Years' and compared Paul's vocal style to that of Paul Carrack.

Since his time with IQ, Paul moved to Worcestershire, grew a family and will be going back out on tour this year.

“A man who’s had one of the most incredible musical journeys in the Midlands” - Andrew Marston.

Ledbury's newest venue

A 17th century barn in Ledbury has been brought back to life and transformed into a live music venue, cafe, bar and art gallery.

The timber and brick building opposite the historic Master's House was leaning dangerously to one side and had been used to store paper and building materials until it was bought by friends Robin Oakey and Lynn Jones.

They've repaired and restored it using almost entirely recycled materials and are hoping it will become the heart of the town's art and music community.

27 - 30 June: The Upton Jazz Festival

The 34th Upton Jazz Festival returns in 2019 promising a variety of musical performance across the town.

It’s a celebration of Jazz, Swing and Blues, with 50 concerts over four days.

Tonight, we meet the person that books the bands!

ѿý Music Introducing at the Hay Festival

This month's sessions were recorded in the ѿý tent at this year's Hay Festival.

The 2019 festivities featured more than 600 speakers across 11 days - including musicians Billy Bragg, The Gipsy Kings and The Waterboys.

According to festival director, Peter Florence, some 270,000 tickets were sold with attendees from over 40 countries, ranging from Afghanistan to Argentina.

Artist of the Week

Chloë Elliot is an 18-year-old singer/songwriter from Stourport who loves to sing, write and perform!

She's been singing as long as she can remember and is working hard to share her music with the world.

Because we like to help with things like that - she joined us to switch on Worcester's Christmas Lights and during our stage takeover of the Wychwood Festival.

ѿý Music Introducing in Malvern

At ѿý Music Introducing in Hereford & Worcester, we support the very best new music from across the region.

Since 2005 we’ve broadcast around 1,500 sessions, helping to showcase some of our area’s most talented musicians.

We’ve handpicked some of our favourite acts to join us on stage at the Malvern Cube on Sunday, 14 July from 7.30pm.

These artists didn’t even know they were being considered – and we hope this inspires people to keep sending in their music, because we really do listen to everything.

Admission is free.
