Can people afford car finance?
We borrowed £46 billion last year to help us buy new and used cars. But are the finance companies being responsible with their lending? City regulator the Financial Conduct Authority introduced new guidelines last November over concerns some finance companies were being irresponsible. Money Box’s Paul Lewis spoke to Adrian Dally from the Finance and Leasing Association and Stuart Masson from thecarexpert.co.uk. He started by asking Adrian Dally about figures form the Financial Ombudsman Service which show a big rise in the number of complaints about hire purchase, most of which it says are about car finance….
