Brexit 'harming UK industrial strategy'
Andy Haldane, the chief economist of the Bank of England, tells Newsnight the Brexit deadlock has undermined efforts to boost the UK economy.
Mr Haldane is chair of the government’s independent Industrial Strategy Council, a body charged with evaluating ministerial progress towards national economic re-balancing.
And on top of all that, he’s leading a major new mission by the Bank to re-connect with the British public which often feel they don’t understand what the Bank does - or that that Bank really understands what’s going on in their lives.
Our economics editor, Ben Chu, caught up with him in Leicester.
