Despite available vaccines, the latest outbreak of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo shows no sign of being contained. Dr Josie Golding at the Wellcome Trust describes the challenges involved in rolling out an effective vaccine in the conflict-ridden country. Dr Paul Stoffels is chief scientist at Johnson & Johnson, which has developed one of the available vaccines. He tells us how 9/11 helped spur the company into developing the inoculation.
