Boris Johnson's cabinet has met for the first time after an overhaul of his government.

The new top ministerial line up was criticised by Independent MP Nick Boles, a former Tory minister, who said: "The Conservative party has now been fully taken over top to bottom by the hard right."

That view was strongly disputed by former Conservative leader Iain Duncan Smith and by new cabinet minister Rishi Sunak.
