As Europe endures a heatwave, we examine the impact of climate change on food production. Deepak Ray of the Institute on the Environment at the University of Minnesota describes the changing agricultural picture around the world. The president of France's largest farmers' union FNSEA argues that a €1bn compensation package for French farmers currently enduring drought conditions is not sufficient. And Kit Allen and Fred Langdale of Extonpark vineyard in the south of England explain how a warmer climate in the UK has led to a boom in sparkling wine production. Also in the programme, US economic growth for the second quarter of the year was stronger than expected, though slower than last year at 2.1%. Constance Hunter is chief economist at KPMG LLP, and drills down into the figures.
