Could ‘smart’ cow nose-rings help combat global warming?
The inventor of a ‘smart’ cattle nose-ring is hoping the device will help reduce methane emissions from livestock, and positively impact climate change. Francisco Norris, from the Royal College of Art in London, says the wearable device “targets methane that is exhaled by the animal, capturing and oxidising it in real-time”.
Cows, sheep and goats are thought to pump out 14% of all the gasses than can bring about global warming.
Francisco says the nose-ring “sits on the muscle or snout in a completely non-intrusive way”.
