'This is a cargo container, this isn’t a home'
Lulu Abubaker is being housed in converted shipping container in Ealing.
A woman has told ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 5 Live that housing her and her children in a converted shipping container is "mental torture".
Lulu Abubaker has four children, one with severe autism.
Speaking to Nihal Arthanayake, she said the container is "not suitable for human beings".
Ealing Council said it was "one of the first local authorities in the country to use tackle the housing crisis by using innovative modular homes as temporary accommodation. Made from heavily modified shipping containers, the homes offer a stable, comfortable environment for vulnerable homeless families who have nowhere else to go.

"While we would rather offer people the opportunity to live in genuinely affordable permanent homes, the housing crisis means we have no choice but to use temporary accommodation.
Ìý
"The modular homes are each self-contained, with their own kitchens and bathrooms and separate bedrooms. That means they offer the families that live in them a far better, much more private standard of accommodation than traditional hostels or bed and breakfasts.

"Every tenant’s medical needs are taken into consideration before they are allocated temporary housing. We would encourage Lulu to contact us as soon as possible so that we can discuss this issue with her."
