Assisted dying: 'My mum was accused of murdering my dad'
Joy Munns has told ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 5 Live that she wants to see a change to the law on assisted dying, after her mum was accused of murdering her dad.
Joy's mum, 80-year-old Mavis Eccleston was accused of giving her 81-year-old terminally ill husband Dennis a potentially lethal dose of prescription medicine without his knowledge.
But it is something the couple had been discussing for a long time as they had both intended to take their lives.
Dennis died in hospital but Mavis survived, and she and her family were shocked to find out that the case was going to court.
Last month, Mavis was found not guilty, and was also cleared of manslaughter after a two-week trial.
Joy explained the "scariest part for me, was the night before the verdict".
