Prime Minister Boris Johnson says he wants to hold a general election on 12 December, to try to "get Brexit done". But a pre-Christmas election likely to happen?

The next election isn’t due until 2022, but the prime minister wants an early general election to try to restore the Conservative Party’s majority.
