Labour's deputy leader Tom Watson stands down
Labour's deputy leader Tom Watson is standing down. His announcement came on the first official day of general election campaigning.

Former Labour adviser Tom Baldwin tells Newsnight Watson had “human reasons” for wanting to step back, but Independent candidate Gavin Shuker - a former Labour MP - said some moderate Labour candidates would be feeling “abandoned”.
