Improving mental health treatment in Nigeria

Nigerian mental health workers say more trained specialists are needed

Nigeria has very few trained psychiatrists, and people suffering from mental health are put in centres that are ill-equipped or not adequately staffed. We hear from Dr Joyce Omoaregba, Senior Consultant Psychiatrist at the Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital in Benin-City.

An investigation by a local TV station in Kenya revealing how lax policies have allowed food with high levels of a toxin called aflatoxin to be sold has sparked uproar over safety standards in the country. Felister Makini, Deputy Director-General Crops at Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Institute, tells us which brands have been banned and why.

We bring you an interview with Safiya Khalid and Nadia Mohamed, two young women of Somali heritage who have been elected city counsellors in the US cities.
