
Lib Dem manifesto pledges Gender Recognition Act reform
Dr Sarah Wollaston talks to Emily Maitlis about the Liberal Democrat's pledge to reform the Gender Recognition Act in their election manifesto.
The Liberal Democrats have pledged to reform the Gender Recognition Act in their election manifesto, so it no longer includes a requirement for medical reports to be submitted and recognises non-binary gender identities. Applicants for passports would be able to fill in an "X gender option" under its plans.
Dr Sarah Wollaston left the Conservative Party in February 2019 and joined the newly formed Change UK. She left Change UK in June 2019, before joining the Liberal Democrats in August over her views on Brexit.
