A group of African heads of state are meeting in a summit ahead of the UK's departure from the European Union, aimed at boosting private investment in Africa – using the aid budget to encourage investment from the City of London.

The government says six and half billion pounds of commercial deals have already been signed by British companies – focussed on green technology, energy and increasing access to the internet – with more expected to follow.
