'My son died on a smart motorway'
The mum of an eight-year-old boy, who died after a crash on the hard shoulder of a 'dynamic smart motorway', has told ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 5 Live “my heart just dropped.â€
Meera’s son Dev was in the car with his grandad when he needed to pull over to stop on a hard shoulder temporarily opened to traffic.
Following the inquest into his death, Highways England said their "deepest sympathies" were with Dev's family. A spokesman said: "We have received the coroner's report and will respond to the recommendations in due course."
Dev's brother, who suffers from severe epilepsy, was already in hospital suffering around 300 seizures a day.
Meera said: “To have both your children in the same hospital, one already dead and the other fighting for his life.â€
