A round-the-world trip to look at plastic pollution

An all-female crew are embarking on a round-the-world voyage, looking at the effects of plastic pollution on the ocean.

Three hundred women will take part in at least some of the eXXpedition trip, which is scheduled to finish in April 2021. They will travel 38,000 nautical miles, starting and ending in the UK.

Dr Hilary Nash is one of those taking part. She told ѿý Radio 5 Live’s Tony Livesey that the project has “really helped me to find my voice and spread the word” about the dangers of plastic pollution.

“It’s been something I’ve been passionate about for such a long time so it’s been a really positive experience,” she said.
