Anonymous A&E consultant audio diary: Day 3
On Friday 20 March, as NHS workers began to see the impact of the coronavirus outbreak on their wards, ‘Dr Al’, an A&E consultant from Manchester, called ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 5 Live presenter Stephen Nolan to plead with the British public to heed the government’s advice to stay at home.
'Dr Al' used an assumed name in order to protect his identity, which means he was able to provide a frank account of the severity of the situation.
He’s agreed to record an audio-diary throughout the crisis. In his third entry, recorded after his shift on Wednesday 25 March, he explains why he feels the peak of the virus is nearer than he thought.
