Premier League cash 'bit of a myth'
The Brighton & Hove Albion chief executive Paul Barber has told ѿý Radio 5 Live that “all football clubs are suffering” and they’re doing all they can to save as many jobs as possible.
Some Premier League clubs have furloughed non-playing staff during the coronavirus pandemic, when no football is being played.
This decision has been criticised by politicians who said the clubs were living in a “moral vacuum” and said players should be first to sacrifice salaries.
Tottenham, Newcastle and Norwich have all opted to utilise the government’s job retention scheme during the pandemic.
Speaking to 5 Live Breakfast, Mr Barber said says the perception that everyone in the Premier League has a lot of cash “is a bit of a myth”.
