The Swan
A very special solo performance by Céline Gittens, Principal Dancer at Birmingham Royal Ballet. This “gift”, The Swan, specially adapted and introduced by Carlos Acosta, “is a dance about life, about hope”.
Music is from pianist Jonathan Higgins and cellist António Novais, while Gittens takes centre-stage.
Originally titled The Dying Swan, this poignant piece was choreographed by Mikhail Fokine and set to Camille Saint-Saëns's Le Cygne from Le carnaval des animaux for legendary ballerina Anna Pavlova. The ending has been re-choreographed by Director of Birmingham Royal Ballet, Carlos Acosta, for the company's ѿý From ѿý series. It is presented here as part of Culture in Quarantine from ѿý Arts.
